Registered Nurse-SANE-Per-Diem

About the Role

Per-diem RN SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) position in the Emergency Department, providing specialized care for adult and adolescent sexual assault survivors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical forensic exams, including head-to-toe assessments, anogenital examinations, forensic specimen collection, documentation, and photography.
• Provide compassionate, non-judgmental care to survivors while collaborating with emergency staff, law enforcement, advocates, and legal professionals.
• Attend peer reviews and ensure compliance with professional and forensic nursing standards.
• Participate in courtroom proceedings related to cases as needed.
• Perform forensic nursing duties with expertise in forensic collection, STI management, and trauma-informed care.
• Adhere to professional standards and collaborate with community organizations.
• Attend relevant meetings and legal proceedings.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Certified in SANE through the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
• Forensic nursing experience preferred.
• Computer literate or willing to train.
