About the Role
Abington Manor is currently looking for a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Control Specialist/Staff Development to assist with leading our nursing team. This role is ideal for a compassionate and enthusiastic Registered Nurse (RN) with leadership experience in long-term care.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with department directors to determine departmental training needs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program that orients the new employee to our infection prevention and control and employee health programs.
- Provide leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principles essential for Nurse Supervisors/Charge Nurses.
- Participate in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes for CNAs/GNAs and any other nursing personnel that provide instructions on “how to do the job,” and ensure a well-educated nursing service department.
- Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.
- Assist in training department personnel in identifying tasks that involve potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
Requirements
- Must possess, as a minimum, an Associate’s Degree (BS preferred) and completed nursing school.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in this state.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility.
- Experience in supervising, managerial principles, and practice of teaching.
- Working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique, including standard/transmission-based precautions.
- APIC Certification in infection prevention and control preferred but not required.
- Must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical/drug screen.
