About the Role
Riverstreet Manor is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Control Specialist/Staff Development to lead our nursing team in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with department directors to determine departmental training needs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program for infection prevention and control and employee health programs.
- Provide leadership training, including administrative and supervisory principles for Nurse Supervisors/Charge Nurses.
- Report all reportable diseases to the county and state health departments.
- Assist with in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence for the nursing staff.
- Maintain a liaison with residents, their families, and support departments to plan for infection prevention and control needs.
- Participate in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes for CNAs/GNAs and other nursing personnel.
- Assist in standardizing work methods and training department personnel in identifying tasks involving potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (BS preferred) and completion of nursing school.
- Current, unencumbered, active RN license in the state.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related healthcare setting.
- Experience in supervising, managerial principles, and teaching practices.
- Working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique, including standard/transmission-based precautions.
- APIC Certification in infection prevention and control preferred but not required.
- Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical/drug screen.
