Requirements

• Associate’s degree in nursing (BS preferred) and completion of nursing school
• Current, unencumbered, active RN license in the state
• Minimum two years of experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related healthcare setting
• Working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique, including standard and transmission-based precautions
• APIC certification in infection prevention and control preferred but not required
• Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical/drug screen

Responsibilities

• Report all reportable diseases to county and state health departments
• Assist with in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence for nursing staff
• Maintain liaison with residents, families, and support departments to plan for infection prevention and control needs
• Train department personnel in identifying tasks with potential exposure to blood or body fluids
