Registered Nurse (RN) Same Day Surgery Per Diem Day

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the Same Day Surgery department at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ (1 Clara Maass Drive, Belleville, NJ 07109). With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32 bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and newly expanded Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, assures awareness of ethical standards per the ANA code of ethics.
• Assures safety in practice, inclusive of evidence‑based practice principles, maintains awareness of own knowledge/experience, assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others via communication and resource utilization.
• Reports identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• Maintains knowledge of the patient population served.
• Supervises and directs delegation of tasks to appropriate team members, collaborates with other patient care providers.
• Consistently sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• Utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care, individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.

Qualifications

• ADN
• Minimum one year RN experience working in Same Day Surgery Unit/Ambulatory Care setting
• Preferred: BSN
• Certifications and Licenses Required: BLS from the American Heart Association; Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
