Registered Nurse RN Postpartum

Banner University Medical Center-Tucson is an academic, Level 1 Trauma hospital in Southern Arizona. As a nurse in the Antepartum/Postpartum unit, you will care for moms and babies in a 24-bed space. Responsibilities
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history and physical with patient/family and ensure completion within appropriate timeframe.
- Review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers.
- Complete assessments and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
- Formulate and initiate a plan of care, including discharge planning, in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team.
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a legible, timely manner consistent with policy and standards.
- Provide care based on the best available evidence and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
- Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Interact and participate in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
- Promote/support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
- Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
- Actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.
- Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient care.
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
- BLS certification required.
- Prior RN Postpartum or Labor and Delivery experience.
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area, demonstrated through annual validations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Schedule
Part-time positions available. Weekends and holidays are required on a rotating basis. Self-scheduling tool available for shift and weekend coverage. Day, night, and weekend shift hours available.
Pay
$3/hour weekend shift differential and +18% night shift differential.
