About the role
Welcome to Banner Ocotillo Medical Center, serving the Chandler community and surrounding area. As a people-centered facility, the focus of our Banner Ocotillo Women and Infant Services department is family. This state-of-the-art service line allows families to seamlessly move through their birthing experience, from triage to one of 6 fully equipped L&D rooms and finally to one of 18 AP/PP private rooms. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to cross-train and expand their specialty skill set. This facility is open to midwives and doulas, and our level two special care baby unit will be staffed 24/7 with nurse practitioners.
This is a part-time night position (6 PM - 6:30 AM) with self-scheduling for shift and weekend coverage. All candidates must have previous RN working experience in L&D or Postpartum. Nursery and Postpartum Nurses will care for infants in our level II nursery while also floating to Postpartum to care for mother and baby.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within appropriate timeframe.
- Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data; reports abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
- Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
- Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team.
- Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and medical plan of care.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities.
- Provides care based on physician orders and nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
- Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision for other licensed nurses and personnel.
- Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises plan of care as needed.
- Evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record accurately and timely.
- Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
- Contributes to society through activities leading to excellent patient outcomes.
- Actively participates in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.
- Interacts with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to support patient care.
- Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
- BLS certification required.
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
- Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired.
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work.
- For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions: minimum one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months.
- For Home Health settings: valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to operate a personal vehicle.
- For Behavioral Health settings serving children: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
- For Banner Home Care AZ: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment.
- For BSS Behavioral Health roles in Arizona: State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
