About the role
Join CHOC’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) as a Registered Nurse. CHOC offers an excellent salary and benefits package, including an education reimbursement program (up to $10,000 per year).
Pay
Pay Range:
- Minimum: $56.96 per hour
- Midpoint: $74.05 per hour
- Maximum: $91.14 per hour
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

- Provide appropriate family-centered patient care based upon age appropriateness and cultural and spiritual needs.

Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of critical care nursing experience with six (6) months in a pediatric setting.
- Preferred: One (1) year of acute care nursing in a pediatric inpatient hospital, preferably in a PICU.
- Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) required within 2 years of hire.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Registered Nurse – California (RN) licensure.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
- Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (preferred).
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- High energy level with functional demand rated as medium.
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
- Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs (e.g., patients on bed or stretcher).
- Lateral transfer of 150-200 lbs (e.g., patient).
- Physical activities include: bending, carrying objects, climbing, keyboard use/repetitive motion, pinching/fine motor activities, pushing/pulling, reaching forward, reaching overhead, sitting, squatting/kneeling/crawling, standing, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling, twisting, walking, wrist position deviation.
- Sensory requirements: color discrimination, depth perception, far vision, hearing, near vision.
- Environmental exposure to: airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, dust particulate matter, extreme noise levels, extreme temperatures, radiation, uneven surfaces or elevations.
