Job Description

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who assists patients in achieving, maintaining, and restoring health. The role adheres to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an NLN School of Nursing
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Mississippi
  • All RNs must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
  • RNs in certain specialties must complete and maintain additional certifications as listed
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by 90 days
  • A minimum of one year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred within the past five years

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules

Physical Demands

  • Moderately active work involving sitting, moving around the office and facility, and traveling within the SRHS service area
  • Exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or operate standard office equipment
  • Using many physical motions in performing daily work activities
  • Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues that may carry the hazard of infectious disease
  • Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment
  • Close visual and acuity needed for sharp focus
  • Ability to work extended periods without undue fatigue
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Mental Demands

  • Demonstrate keen mental faculties and assessment and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrate superior communication skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Show emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
  • Maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations

Special Demands

  • Possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
  • Proficient in using a computer (keyboard proficiency), other office technology (telephone, fax), MS Outlook and Word
  • Apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
