Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice as well as
  • Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient's condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  • Communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
  • Aids physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
  • Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.
  • Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly.
  • Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing school
  • BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire

Qualifications

BSN preferred

Skills

Excellent communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with medical equipment.

We have 52 medical/surgical beds, 12 acute rehabilitation beds, 12 intensive care beds, and an 8 bed labor, delivery and post-partum unit, 16 Bed Emergency Department and Valley View Medical Center is the only all private bed hospital serving the Bullhead City/Laughlin/Needles area.
