Avera Majestic Bluffs / Avera Sister James Care Center – night shift (6 pm – 6:30 am), 20 hours per two-week pay period.

About the role

Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, families, and friends to help them understand residents’ conditions, medications, and self-care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, families, and friends; conferring with physicians.
  • Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining residents; documenting residents’ physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends; developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables.
  • Teach healthcare requirements by establishing resident care goals; instructing residents, families, and friends to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions; providing information and resources.
  • Evaluate resident care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against resident care standards; reviewing residents’ records; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives; modifying the nursing care plan.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy resident care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, organization standards, legal regulations, and alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Keep resident care equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Keep resident care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking items.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers to and from the facility.
  • Direct, plan, and coordinate workflow of nursing assistants and other nursing personnel.
  • Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership.

Requirements

  • Active LPN or RN license in the state of practice.
  • Visual acuity and communication ability sufficient to perform position duties, including hearing, understanding, and distinguishing speech and other sounds.
  • Ability to work the specified hours (6 pm – 6:30 am, 20 hours per two-week pay period).

Pay

  • LPN pay scale: $24.50 – $28.63 – $33.25 per hour.
  • RN pay scale: $32.50 – $40.00 – $48.00 per hour.
