About the Role

As a member of the patient services team, the RN upholds the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Responsibilities

  • Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
    • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, ensuring individualized care and effective partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
    • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) with an understanding of cultural diversity.
    • Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching) to keep them updated and align care with the patient’s goals.
    • Practices using current clinical practice standards.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration
    • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, high-quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through inclusive interdisciplinary communication (e.g., rounds, case reviews).
    • Demonstrates fiscally responsible teamwork to support recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
    • Participates in performance improvement, research, and shared governance at all levels in the system.
  • Professional Development and Initiative
    • Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific education.
    • Serves as a preceptor or mentor for professional nurses, staff, or students to model professional practice and foster a healthy work environment.
  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research
    • Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including participation in value analysis for patient care products.
    • Upholds system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements (e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals, Wellstar Health Systems’ safety absolutes).
    • Participates in data collection, poses clinical questions to advanced evidence-based practice, and consults appropriate experts/resources.
  • Resources and Support
    • Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
    • Collaborates with care managers and the healthcare team to develop protocols and procedures that achieve best practice outcomes (e.g., reducing readmission rates, avoidable days, adverse events).
    • Supports efficient use of human and material resources.

Requirements

  • Education:
    • Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing (Required).
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Registered Nurse (Single State) license upon hire (Required).
    • RN - Multi-state Compact license upon hire (Required).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required).
    • BLS - Instructor or Provisional certification (Required).
  • Experience:
    • Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience post-graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing (Required).
