About the role

The Banner Gateway Medical Surgical Unit specializes in oncology care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation treatment, symptom management, palliative care, clinical trials, and stem cell care. The unit is affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center and offers extended stays to ensure personalized care.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards.
  • Plans and coordinates care with other healthcare team members, including physicians and therapists.
  • Delegates tasks to other licensed nurses and healthcare team members as appropriate.
  • Evaluates patient progress and adjusts the care plan as necessary.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in state of practice.
  • BLS certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience in oncology nursing preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • One year of acute care nursing experience preferred.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of oncology nursing practices and protocols.
  • Proficiency in computer systems for documentation and patient care.

Benefits

Includes 18% night shift differential, $3/hour weekend shift differential, and competitive pay rates.

Pay

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time nights, 7:00pm-7:30am, 36 hours per week.
