Pay

$27.83–$45.46 per hour based on previous work experience, plus differentials:

• $2.50/hr PRN I differential (3 shifts per 6-week schedule)
• $35 flat rate PRN II (6 shifts in a 6-week schedule)
• $42 flat rate PRN III (12 shifts in a 6-week schedule)
• $2.50/hr evening differential
• $3.00/hr night differential
• $3.00/hr weekend differential

Schedule

Variable PRN shifts; 7:00 AM–7:00 PM (day shift).

About the role

Norman Regional Hospital ICU is a 32-bed unit that cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. The ICU team collaborates with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award-winning advanced stroke care and maintains a fast pace to meet the needs of patients in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures and diagnoses include post open-heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction.

Daily responsibilities may include managing life-support systems such as ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN must demonstrate respect, empathy, and strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Comprehensive and inclusive training is provided for new graduate RNs, including a 12-week orientation with a designated preceptor.

Responsibilities

• Systematically assess and reassess the healthcare needs of individuals, appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions, involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers as needed.
• Analyze assessments to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes, collaborating with the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Provide nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs, using professional judgment guided by evidence-based practice, regulations, and policy.
• Evaluate patient outcomes using critical thinking and evidence-based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions.
• Assess discharge needs related to the plan of care, utilizing resources as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
• Previous experience in the healthcare field preferred (requirements may be met by an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining required during orientation prior to providing patient care; BLS certification must be maintained throughout employment.
• New graduates are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.
