About the role
The Registered Nurse at Haven Behavioral Healthcare is responsible for leading patient care activities, assessing patients, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. This position requires a strong background in psychiatric nursing and the ability to manage a high-stress environment.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to develop individualized plans of care and treatment modalities.
- Identifies and manages risks, precautions, and expected outcomes for patients.
- Administers medications safely and educates patients on their prescribed medications.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and documents care accurately and comprehensively.
- Communicates with staff and patients to ensure continuity of care.
- Adapts to a high-stress environment and assesses potential for patient escalation.
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing, and exhibits critical thinking abilities.
- Exhibits self-confidence and the ability to lead and direct others.
Requirements
- Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing, with one year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
- Ability to adapt to a high-stress environment and assess potential for patient escalation.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Understanding and sensitivity to serving culturally diverse and special needs populations.
- Basic knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.
- Critical thinking abilities and the ability to apply them for continuous improvement of patient care.
- Self-confidence and conceptual thinking abilities.
- Successfully completed CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist staff and patients.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions.
