Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Services
The Emergency Department at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional care and contributing to the health and well-being of our community.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will be part of a collaborative team that provides care to patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. You will function as an independent practitioner, adhering to department policies and procedures, and supporting the team in achieving high standards of care.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care to all patients assigned, ensuring continuity of care throughout their stay in the department.
- Communicate effectively with families and significant others, including during admissions and discharges, to ensure they are informed and involved in the patient’s care plan.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills, including CPR recertification, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and Trauma Nurse credentials.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance professional development and meet departmental competencies.
- Assume responsibility for the safety and care of patients in the department and waiting areas, practicing universal precautions and promoting continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- A current state RN license.
- An associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS within one year.
- PALS within three years.
- Actively pursuing CEN within three years.
- Six months of acute care nursing experience and/or equivalent emergency medicine experience (CST, LPN, or Paramedic).
- Trauma Nurse Course preferred.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records and other departmental systems.

Variable 12-hour shifts and rotating every other weekend and major holidays.
