Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
- Supervises, teaches, and delegates to other personnel in the performance of activities related to nursing care.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
- Formulates an individualized plan of care, revises plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment, and evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, provider, patient, and family following chain of command.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient, protecting patient's rights.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in nursing (required); bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred).
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license to practice in the state of Kentucky.
- ACLS and BCLS certifications.
