Registered Nurse - RN – Cardiac ICU

Part-time position, 24 hours per week on the night shift with rotating weekends and holidays.

About the Role

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) delivers patient care to individuals in critical condition. This role operates within a 22-bed Level 1 Trauma Facility unit and contributes to a growing ECMO Program.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for Critical Care Patients, conducting assessments, devising care plans, and adjusting critical drips to ensure hemodynamic stability and appropriate sedation levels.
• Attend to patients requiring advanced monitoring, heightened observation, utilization of invasive equipment, and administration of intricate medication regimens.
• Function independently in the Cardiac ICU, demonstrating expertise in ICU-level patient care and familiarity with open-heart procedures.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
• Valid RN license in Connecticut.
• One or more years of ICU, Critical Care, or Step Down nursing experience (ideal but not required).
• BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
• ACLS certification (support available for certification post-hire).
• Ability to work independently in the Cardiac ICU; resumes must demonstrate expertise in ICU-level patient care and familiarity with open-heart procedures.

This role is not designed for new graduates or those seeking training for Cardiac Intensive Care nursing. Strength with ECMO is a plus.
