About the role
The Frederick B. Cohen, MD Comprehensive Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center provides quality nursing care in collaboration with the medical staff and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the New Jersey State Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to provide age-specific treatments, patient and family teaching, and discharge planning.
- Participates in the department’s performance improvement evaluation activities.
- Provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to oncology and hematology patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
- Assesses, coordinates, educates, and manages patient care, including administering treatments like injections, and monitoring for side effects or complications.
- Collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective patient-centered care.
- Supports patient navigation, facilitates referrals, and assists in managing treatment plans across the continuum of oncology care.
- Works collaboratively with RNs, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Medical Assistants.
- Supports all of the ambulatory outpatient clinics in the Cancer Center, including Hematology/Oncology, Oncology, and Benign Hematology, as well as supports telephone triage to assigned providers.
Qualifications
- Required: ASN or Nursing Diploma, Strong communication and organizational skills, Proficient computer skills, Minimum (1) one year RN experience, Active and current NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement, BLS from the American Heart Association, ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Preferred: BSN, OCN Certification, One year prior experience as a Registered Nurse in an Oncology unit in-patient or outpatient.

Pay and Schedule
The Oncology Ambulatory Services RN position offers a pay range of $49.28 - $66.05 per hour.
The shift is a Day Shift and the schedule is Full Time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
