Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health (BHU)

About the role

The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Sentara Obici Hospital is a licensed 20 beds unit. We see dual diagnosis behavioral health patients to include but not limited to: Bi-polar, schizophrenia, major depression and substance abuse. We are a low to moderate acuity locked unit. For several years we have had the highest customer service scores within behavioral health of Sentara as well as high employee engagement scores.

Responsibilities

• Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• Assess, diagnose, outcomes identify, plan, implement, coordinate care-teaching and health promotion and evaluate patient care.
• Collaborate with a full interdisciplinary behavioral health team including mental health techs, LPNs, Behavioral Health Therapist, Recreational Therapist, Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatrist.
• Engage in group therapy sessions on the unit.

Requirements

• Registered nursing License (Required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
• Experience: None required, 1 year of acute care preferred, Previous healthcare experience preferred

Qualifications

• Education: Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Certification/Licensure: BLS required within 90 days of hire
