About the role

The 12-bed Behavioral Health Unit at Highpoint Health Sumner specializes in caring for patients aged 55 and older with various neurological and behavioral conditions, including dementia, acute mental status changes, and Parkinson's disease. The unit focuses on maintaining the independence of most patients and provides medication management and support for situational depression and ideation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains patient condition monitoring, records, and communication with the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Affords assistance with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
  • Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.

Requirements

  • Current State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure.
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree or RN Diploma in Nursing.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • 1-year experience in Geriatric Nursing, preferably in Behavioral Health is preferred.

Pay

Nights $15,000 Sign on Bonus
