Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Care Elderly - Night Shift - Sign-on Bonus!

ChristianaCare Hospital in Newark, DE, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) passionate about caring for the elderly to join the 6A - Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit.

About the Role

6A is a dedicated medical unit that cares for patients facing a range of challenging health conditions, including serious surgical issues (e.g., fractured hips), stroke recovery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), back pain, urinary tract infections (UTIs), and underlying conditions like dementia. Nurses care for five medical patients per shift and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including a unit-based Nurse Practitioner, physicians, pharmacy staff, physical therapists, and other support personnel.

This is a full-time night shift position (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with a 20% shift differential for the entire shift. Weekend and holiday work follows department guidelines. External candidates are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, comprehensive nursing care to elderly patients with complex medical needs.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Manage care for patients with conditions such as surgical recovery, stroke, COPD, dementia, and other acute or chronic illnesses.

Requirements

• Active DE RN License or a Compact Nursing License.
• One year of experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
• Demonstrated passion for working with older adults.
• BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; candidates with an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) must obtain a BSN within three years of hire.
• Gerontology Certification preferred.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $41.28 – $66.05. The actual salary offered will depend on individual factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
