Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - Women's Unit (GYN)

Work Shift: Night (7 pm - 7 am), full-time position dedicated to GYN/post-surgical care on the Women's Unit at Wellstar Cobb Hospital.

About the Role

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team ensuring patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. Practice is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research, with competencies derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. The role upholds the voice of the patient, system policies, and service excellence goals.

Responsibilities

• Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice to ensure individualized, high-quality care.
• Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
• Partners with patients and significant others using methods like bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching, keeping patient goals central to the plan of care.
• Coordinates safe, quality patient care and documentation, promoting a respectful and inclusive clinical environment.
• Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration, supporting performance improvement, research, and shared governance.
• Completes professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training; serves as a preceptor/mentor for nurses and other staff.
• Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in value analysis and decision-making for patient care products.
• Upholds organizational policies, clinical competencies, and regulatory/accreditation standards (e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals).
• Participates in data collection, addresses clinical questions with evidence-based resources, and collaborates on protocol development.
• Proactively plans patient care across the continuum, supporting efficient use of resources and best practice outcomes.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Single State or Multi-state Compact) upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care experience.
