Responsibilities

• Treat patients, educate patients about mental and medical conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members
• Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention
• Perform seclusion and restraint of patients as needed
• Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms
• Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results
• Operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications
• Assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation
• Teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training

• Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Nevada
• BLS upon hire and maintain current
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care

Additional Education, Experience, Training

• ACLS within 90 days of hire (only in required departments)
• Basic Arrhythmia within 90 days of hire (CCU/ICU, ED, Tele, Neuro Tele)
• NIH Stroke within 90 days of hire (CCU/ICU, ED, Tele, Neuro Tele)
• PALS within 90 days of hire (only in required departments)
