About the role
The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic (BHUCC) is the first program of its kind in the Kansas City area that provides immediate, same-day access to psychiatric medication for mental health and substance use needs. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the BHUCC team provides care to clients every day of the week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Complete initial assessment/history on all clients entering treatment.
- Strategically use assessment information to make an appropriate clinical evaluation of client's current conditions in a timely manner. This includes (but not limited to) making appropriate referrals, consulting with physician, and/or educating the client as appropriate.
- Educate client and families on symptoms, medications and side effects.
- Provide a welcoming approach towards all clients, visitors and guests from a trauma-informed approach.
- Collect and maintain information about clients and document interactions within ReDiscover’s designated electronic medical record.
- Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive communication regarding the coordination of client care.
Requirements
- Availability to work PRN as needed, available to work 12-hour shifts. (Clinic operates 7-days a week from 9:00am to 9:00pm).
- All new hires are required to attend a one-week ReDiscover orientation as part of the onboarding process.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Active Missouri license as a Registered Nurse (or the ability to practice as an RN in the state of Missouri).
- At least two (2) years clinical experience in a direct service provision in a mental health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of the community resources as well as health and social service systems in the Kansas City metro area and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as use of email.
