Responsibilities
- Affirms patient care plans according to physician orders, patient needs, and ESCNC policies and procedures during the intra-operative phase.
- Ensures all documentation is complete and accurate on the patient's chart for the scheduled procedure.
- Completes the Safety Checklist before entering the OR, during the procedure, and after the procedure, signing off with date and time.
- Sets up supplies and medications, ensuring equipment is clean, safe, and functional, and completes the checklist given to the Facility Manager.
- Reports low stock levels to the Clinical Nursing Supervisor or Facility Manager.
- Completes all necessary forms (such as labs, tissue, FDA, billing, waiver of liability for visitors) and logs (such as tissue, Lens, temperature/humidity) as required.
- Maintains sterile technique where applicable, both in surgery and during assistance with the scrub tech and surgeon.
- Demonstrates ability to provide pre-op and recovery care, adjusting to the staffing pattern for the surgical day.
- Receives a brief report from the Pre-op RN when the patient is taken to the OR, assists the anesthesiologist in transferring the patient to and from the OR, brings the patient's chart and supplies to the PACU, and gives a brief report to the PACU RN.
- Cleans the OR after surgery with the Certified Surgical Technician (CST) and prepares the room for the next case before assisting with the transfer of the next patient to the OR.
- Aids in the proper disposal of needles, sharps, syringes, and other waste; assists with the cleaning of the OR between cases; and at the end of the day, assists in preparing the surgery suite for the next day's cases.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice nursing in the State of CA upon start date.
