About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in a collaborative environment at Holy Cross Health within the Acute/Neuro Unit to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. This position is a great opportunity to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person physically, emotionally and spiritually.

This 30-bed unit provides care to patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring, with a special emphasis on neuroscience diagnoses, including epilepsy monitoring. The unit is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians. Staff receive support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without work visa or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of the patient.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred). Note: If the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain one within a specific time frame.
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Competency in electronic patient management systems.
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.

  • BSN or MSN preferred.

Pay

Pay Range: $38.92 – $55.68 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Schedule

Night shift: 7pm-7am with weekend and holiday rotation.
