About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in a collaborative environment within the Acute/Neuro Unit to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. This 30-bed unit provides care to patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring, with a special emphasis on neuroscience diagnoses, including epilepsy monitoring. The unit is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians, with support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of the patient.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred). If the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must agree to obtain one within a specific time frame.
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Competency in electronic patient management systems.
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without work visa or sponsorship.

Pay

Pay Range: $38.92 – $55.68 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
