Position Purpose

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in a collaborative environment at Holy Cross Health within the Acute/Neuro Unit to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. This position is a great opportunity to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person physically, emotionally and spiritually. This 30-bed unit provides care to patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring, with a special emphasis on neuroscience diagnoses, including epilepsy monitoring. 6 East Acute/Neuro is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians. Staff receive support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
  • Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred). Note, if the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain a within a specific time frame.
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
  • Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Competency in electronic patient management systems.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without work visa or sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Willing to train new Graduate Nurses.

Pay

$38.92 – $55.68 per hour, based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Schedule

Full-time / 36 hours weekly. Night shift; 7pm-7am – with weekend and holiday rotation.
