Registered Nurse PCU - FT Nights
About the role
The Registered Nurse II position at the Medical University of South Carolina's Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (DMC) requires a minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse. The role involves providing individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients, utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process.
Responsibilities
- Delivers safe and effective care to patients and families.
- Interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
- Performs job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, and working outside in temperature extremes.
- Performs job functions from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, reaching overhead, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs., pushing a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair, and pushing a stretcher with a patient.
- Maintains 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes, and determines distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
- Works rotating shifts and may require overtime.
Requirements
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: - Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, and working outside in temperature extremes.
