Registered Nurse PCU - FT Nights

About the role

The Registered Nurse II position at the Medical University of South Carolina's Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (DMC) requires a minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse. The role involves providing individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients, utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process.

Responsibilities

• Delivers safe and effective care to patients and families.
• Interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
• Performs job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, and working outside in temperature extremes.
• Performs job functions from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, reaching overhead, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs., pushing a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair, and pushing a stretcher with a patient.
• Maintains 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes, and determines distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
• Works rotating shifts and may require overtime.

Requirements

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: - Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, and working outside in temperature extremes.
• Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, reaching overhead, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs., pushing a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair, and pushing a stretcher with a patient.

Skills
