University of Vermont Student Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join a collaborative, patient-centered team.

About the role

The Nursing role is multifaceted, with assignments that include nurse-led patient appointments, phone and walk-in triage, screening provider visits, point-of-care testing, public-health initiatives, and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical nurse visits: independent practice and treatment protocols with provider support and consult available
  • Phone and walk-in triage: assess patient status or needs and direct to appropriate care
  • Direct patient care: point-of-care testing, assessments, procedures, and specialty clinics
  • Administrative nursing services: case management, public-health screenings, and student clearances

Requirements

All CHWB employees are considered healthcare workers under Vermont State Law and must meet the following vaccination requirements:

  • Rubeola (measles): two vaccines, two MMR vaccines, or a positive titer
  • Mumps: two vaccines, two MMR vaccines, or a positive titer
  • Rubella: one vaccine, one MMR vaccine, or a positive titer
  • Varicella (chicken pox): two vaccines or a positive titer
  • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Acellular Pertussis): one adult dose
  • Hepatitis B: two- or three-dose series followed by a positive surface antibody
  • Tuberculosis (TB) screening: negative two-step PPD or negative IGRA blood test (QuantiFERON Gold); if prior positive, submit records of testing, treatment, and most recent chest X-ray

Qualifications

Registered Nurse

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent education supporting RN licensure
  • Vermont Board of Medical Practice–approved certification and/or licensure
  • Three years’ related experience
  • Clinical proficiency in ambulatory nursing, including triage, assessment, and charting
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with email, internet, and health-information database applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness

Licensed Practical Nurse

  • LPN licensure
  • Three years’ related experience
  • Vermont Board of Medical Practice–approved certification and/or licensure
  • Clinical proficiency in ambulatory nursing, including triage, assessment, and charting
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with email, internet, and health-information database applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness

Pay

Registered Nurse: $68,000–$78,000 for a 10-month term
Licensed Practical Nurse: $60,000–$70,000 for a 10-month term

Schedule

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 10 months per year
