Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Role Overview

The RN Charge Nurse provides clinical leadership and expertise during their shift, coordinating staffing and resources to ensure high-quality patient care. They serve as a role model for professionalism, evaluate patient needs through assessments, and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. They delegate and oversee care delivery, manage staffing and operational needs, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations. The role involves conflict resolution, staff coaching, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

• Current RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience in the clinical area; mentoring experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN); must obtain within four years if not already held
• Skills in assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, collaboration, leadership, and communication

Key Duties

• Assess patient status and develop care plans
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and delegate tasks
• Manage staffing needs and resource allocation
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards
• Lead and support staff, mediate conflicts, and promote professional growth
• Participate in quality improvement activities and emergency responses

Physical & Other Requirements

• Ability to see, hear, communicate effectively, and manipulate equipment
• Manual dexterity and strength for patient transfers and equipment handling
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist with patient mobility
