Registered Nurse Oncology 7A- no graduate nurses

About the Role

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Schedule

Nurses work 12-hour shifts: 7am–7pm or 7pm–7am, with rotational weekends.

Current openings: Full Time Nights and Full Time Nights Weekends.

Pay and Incentives

• Sign-on bonus:
  • $13,000 for nightshift (1–2 years’ RN experience)
  • $15,000 for nightshift (3–4 years’ RN experience)
  • $20,000 for nightshift (5+ years’ RN experience)
• Education Assistance:
  • Up to $20,000 Loan Forgiveness for new grad nurses
  • Tuition Reimbursement up to $2,000 per year
  • $3,000 Relocation Assistance (full time only)
• Differentials:
  • Weekend Differential
  • Shift Differential for qualifying hours between 3pm–7am
  • Weekend Option Days: WEO rates + weekend differential
  • Weekend Option Nights: WEO rates + weekend differential + straight night shift differential
  • New Increased Weekend Option Differential: $10.00 RN

Requirements

• Education: Graduate or upcoming graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
• Licensure: Current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure; must meet all state board of nursing requirements
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
• Physical demands:
  • Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties

Unit Information

7A offers a vast array of experiences and opportunities surrounding the care of hematology and oncology patients. The unit treats patients in all steps of their journey, including:

• Workup and initial diagnosis
• Middle of treatment process
• End of life care

Responsibilities include:

• Administering chemotherapy almost daily (certification required)
• Providing care for patients receiving radiation, surgical interventions, and transfusions
• Med-surg skills such as wound care, drain care, tube feeding, and pain management
• Remote telemetry monitoring for up to 13 rooms
• End of life care, including pain and secretion management
• Collaborating with the Hospice team to meet the needs of patients and their loved ones
