About the Role

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Schedule

Nurses work 12-hour shifts: 7am–7pm or 7pm–7am, with rotational weekends.

Current openings: Full Time Nights and Full Time Nights Weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for hematology and oncology patients at all stages of their journey, including workup, diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life care.
  • Administer chemotherapy (certification required).
  • Manage patients receiving radiation, surgical interventions, and transfusions.
  • Perform med-surg skills such as wound care, drain care, tube feeding, and pain management.
  • Monitor up to 13 rooms via remote telemetry.
  • Provide end-of-life care, including pain and secretion management.
  • Collaborate with the Hospice team to support patients and their loved ones.

Requirements

  • Graduate or upcoming graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
  • Current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure; must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (or completion within 30 days of hire).
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Incentives

  • Sign-on bonuses for nightshift:
    • 1–2 years’ RN experience: $13,000
    • 3–4 years’ RN experience: $15,000
    • 5+ years’ RN experience: $20,000

  • Differentials:
    • Weekend differential for qualifying hours.
    • Shift differential for hours between 3pm–7am.
    • Weekend Option (WEO) rates + weekend differential for days or nights.
    • New increased WEO differential: $10.00 RN.
