Registered Nurse On Call PRN

The PRN On-Call Hospice RN provides after-hours nursing support to hospice patients and families, ensuring timely response to urgent needs, symptom management, and coordination of care consistent with the hospice plan of care. Employment Status PRN / As NeededNon-exempt or exempt based on agency structureOn-call shifts (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) Primary Responsibilities Responds to patient/family calls during assigned on-call hoursProvides telephonic triage and clinical guidanceDetermines need for and performs urgent visitsAssesses patient condition and changes in statusImplements interventions for pain and symptom controlAdministers medications and treatments per hospice plan of careProvides end-of-life care and supportManages acute symptom crises (e.g., pain, dyspnea, agitation)Provides education and reassurance to families during end-of-life transitionsCoordinates with physician or nurse practitioner as neededCommunicates with hospice physician/NP regarding changes in conditionUpdates plan of care as appropriateCoordinates with pharmacies, DME providers, and other vendorsCompletes timely, accurate documentation of all calls and visitsDocuments assessments, interventions, patient response, and follow-up planEducates on symptom management, medication use, and what to expectReinforces hospice philosophy and goals of care Qualifications Required Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license - WyomingMinimum 1–2 years nursing experience (hospice, home health, or acute care preferred)Valid driver’s license and reliable transportationAbility to work independently and make clinical decisions Scheduling Expectations Assigned on-call shifts (e.g., evenings 5pm–8am, weekends, holidays)Minimum of one weekend per month Performance Expectations Timely response to calls and visitsAccurate and compliant documentationEffective symptom managementProfessional and compassionate patient/family interactions Compensation Structure On-call stipend per shiftAdditional pay per hour for response to calls, visits, etc.Mileage reimbursement
