Registered Nurse, Nursing Float Pool, 36-hours Rotating Schedule
About the Role
Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Tertiary Team Leader, the Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and demonstrates Lahey Clinic’s core values that reflect its Mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care, and accountability are central to delivering individualized, high-quality patient care.
The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of patients. The role includes health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort—or dignified end-of-life care. The nurse assumes responsibility for the plan of care, makes decisions, and is held accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care facilitates coordination of care across the continuum and practices safely within the domains of clinical judgment and decision-making, professional relationships, clinical leadership, and clinical scholarship. Delegation and supervision responsibilities align with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and ANA Principles of Delegation.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Judgment and Decision Making:
- Develops a culturally competent plan of care identifying patient problems, expected outcomes, and preventative measures.
- Performs systematic patient and family assessments relevant to practice settings.
- Delivers age-specific care and evaluates effectiveness, adapting the plan based on patient/family response.
- Demonstrates organizational skills to maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care.
- Professional Relationship:
- Establishes professional relationships with nurses, physicians, colleagues, patients, and families, integrating patient responses, beliefs, and cultural considerations into care.
- Educates patients and families about illness, treatment, and preventative measures.
- Supports community-based activities within and beyond Lahey Clinic.
- Clinical Leadership:
- Demonstrates professional behavior by adhering to unit policies, practice guidelines, and the ANA Code of Ethics.
- Acts as a responsive team member and fulfills roles in regulatory compliance and readiness.
- Supports the development of others and fosters a practice climate of learning (Benner’s Novice to Expert model).
- Clinical Scholarship:
- Upholds standards of quality nursing care and demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning.
- Incorporates evidence-based practice (EBP) into nursing care.
- Organizational Requirements:
- Incorporates Lahey Clinic’s Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.
- Complies with all Lahey Clinic policies and behavioral expectations.
- Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
- Participates in quality improvement activities, mandatory education, and other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of a state-approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current Massachusetts RN license.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Demonstrates clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care per Nursing Policy and Procedures and unit-specific competencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience: None required.
Pay
The base hourly pay range for this position is $37.00 - $95.37. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other applicable pay practices.
