Experienced Registered Nurse, 36-hour Days, Nursing Float Pool

Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Tertiary Team Leader, the Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and demonstrates Lahey Clinic’s core values that reflect its Mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care, and accountability are central to the delivery of individualized high-quality patient care.

A Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of patients. The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care bears full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to individuals and groups, including health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or dignified death.

The registered nurse facilitates the coordination of care across the continuum and demonstrates safe practice within the domains of clinical judgment and decision-making, professional relationships, clinical leadership, and clinical scholarship. The role includes delegation and supervision in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of Massachusetts Rules & Regulations- 244 CMR 3.0 and the ANA Principles of Delegation.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Judgment and Decision Making:
  • Provide safe patient care by demonstrating organizational skills that maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care for assigned patients/families.
  • Develop a culturally competent plan of care that identifies patient problems, expected outcomes, and addresses preventative measures.
  • Perform systematic patient and family assessment relevant to practice settings.
  • Deliver care specific to the age of the patient.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care and adapt the plan based on patient/family response.
• Professional Relationship:
  • Establish professional relationships with nurses, physicians, other colleagues, patients, and families, integrating the patient’s response, religious/spiritual, ethnic, and cultural beliefs into the plan of care.
  • Educate patients and families about illness and treatment, including preventative measures.
  • Support Lahey Clinic’s commitment to community-based activities.
• Clinical Leadership:
  • Support the development of others and create a practice climate of responsiveness and learning.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior by adhering to unit policies, practice guidelines, and the ANA Code of Ethics.
  • Act as a responsive team member and fulfill roles in regulatory compliance and readiness.
  • Demonstrate the role of nurse as teacher.
• Clinical Scholarship:
  • Uphold standards of quality nursing care and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing.
• Organizational Requirements:
  • Incorporate Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.
  • Comply with all Lahey Clinic Policies and behavioral expectations.

  • Complete mandatory education and perform all other duties as needed or directed.

Requirements

• Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Graduate of a state-approved and/or accredited School of Nursing (BSN strongly preferred).
• 2-3 years of RN experience strongly preferred.

Skills

• Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures and unit-specific competencies.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $95.37 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices.
