Nursing Assistant, 36 Hour Day- Nursing Float Pool

About the role

Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, you perform basic patient care activities in providing for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and completes all aspects of activities of daily living for assigned patients.
• Takes and records vital signs, height, weight, and oxygen saturation; reports unusual observations or reactions to the assigned nurse or charge nurse.
• Collects various specimens for analysis and measures and records intake and output.
• Provides patients with personal care and assists with activities of daily living.
• Performs basic clinical procedures independently or under direct supervision of a nurse.
• Assists with patient nutrition, including ordering room service, setting up meal trays, and feeding patients as required.
• Supports a culture of safety and carries out safety interventions for all patients.
• Adheres to all applicable infection control policies and procedures.
• Serves as a patient safety attendant after completion of required competency.
• Assists with orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
• Performs additional unit-based activities as assigned.
• Incorporates organizational guiding principles, mission, and goals into daily activities.
• Complies with all organizational policies and behavioral expectations.
• Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
• Demonstrates understanding of job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and completes mandatory education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; new hires/transfers have 30 days to obtain certification.
• Basic ability to read, write, and perform four-function math.
• Ability to learn medical terminology, basic personal computer skills, and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The base hourly wage range for this position is $20.00 - $26.92. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other applicable pay practices.
