Registered Nurse Medical Oncology

About the role

Full-time, night shift position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Oncology department at St. George Regional Hospital. The RN is a professional caregiver responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using the nursing process, technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination with the health team.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills.
• Gather and evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members, patients, families, physicians, and support staff.
• Develop individualized care plans using assessment data and critical thinking, involving patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Plan and prepare patients for further support needs post-care, including education, referrals, and follow-up.
• Direct, delegate, and coordinate the interdisciplinary care team to deliver care consistent with the plan and professional licensure.
• Set priorities, manage time, supplies, and resources effectively to organize patient care delivery.
• Evaluate patient responses to interventions, review goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and patient/family satisfaction.
• Revise care plans as needed and reassess changes appropriately.
• Promote the nursing profession and participate in the development of others.
• Integrate legal and ethical standards into practice, comply with regulatory standards, and provide accurate documentation.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
• Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment.
• RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (required as of 4/27/2025 for new hires).

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see, read, and assess patient needs, including operating monitors and identifying equipment.
• Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity for complex equipment operation, computer use, and medication preparation.
• Ability to lift and transfer patients, including bending, retrieving, and carrying supplies/equipment of varying weights.
• Walking and assisting with patient transport, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
• Navigating crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords.
• Standing for extended periods.
• For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs/traffic signals.

Pay

$35.22 - $53.29 per hour, dependent upon experience.

Schedule

36 scheduled weekly hours, night shift.
