About the Role

The professional nurse uses the nursing process to deliver patient- and family-centered care, valuing the uniqueness of each individual and addressing the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diverse patient population served by Jefferson Health.

Develops individualized nursing plans of care in partnership with patients and their designated care partners, ensuring alignment with cultural beliefs and values.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, patients, their families, and other staff consistent with Jefferson’s values.
  • Integrates Evidence-Based Practice, clinical expertise, and patient/family preferences and cultural beliefs to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Partners with patients and their designated care partners to identify learning needs and provides education in accessible, affirming ways.
  • Minimizes risk of harm by adhering to established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance standards.
  • Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Monitors care outcomes using data and employs improvement methods to continuously enhance quality and safety.
  • Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.
  • Provides safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for patient preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs.
  • Creates an inclusive environment, demonstrating problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Commits to continuous professional growth, seeks learning opportunities, and acts as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff.
  • Actively participates in hospital- and practice-based committees, including safety and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (specialized diploma required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of BSN/advanced degree within 3 years of hire strongly preferred.
  • 1 year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.

  • Cultural Awareness: Knowledge of diverse backgrounds and ability to connect effectively with respect.
  • Effective Communication: Understanding of communication concepts, tools, and techniques to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas and needs accurately.
  • Patient Assessment and Care: Ability to assess ailments and injuries and implement treatment plans.
  • Patient and Designated Care Partner Education: Knowledge of child and adult education techniques to elicit learning priorities and educate on conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
  • Medication Administration and Prescription: Knowledge of medications and ability to administer and prescribe drugs for continuing treatment.
  • Discharge Planning: Ability to partner with patients and families to develop discharge plans and arrange follow-up care.
  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Knowledge of tools and techniques for patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgment.
  • Health Information Documentation: Ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, and test results accurately.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Pennsylvania or New Jersey.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $42.33 to $60.33. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
