About the role

The professional nurse at Jefferson Health uses the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patients. Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, patients, and their designated care partners to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Integrates evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and patients' preferences and cultural beliefs to optimize patient care.
  • Collaborates with patients and their designated care partners to identify learning needs and priorities, and educates them about their health and treatment plans.
  • Minimizes risks by adhering to established nursing practices and protocols, and continuously improves patient care processes using data-driven methods.
  • Fosters open communication and teamwork within nursing and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Ensures a welcoming and inclusive environment for patients and their designated care partners, respecting their preferences, priorities, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Participates in hospital and practice-based committees to drive improvements in patient care and safety.
  • Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and contribute to the field of nursing.

Requirements

A specialized diploma from an accredited school of nursing is required. Knowledge of patient-and-family-centered care, cultural awareness, effective communication, and patient assessment and care are essential. BLS certification and RN licensure are mandatory. A BSN or appropriate advanced degree is preferred, especially for those with less than one year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN or appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire, strongly preferred.
  • Less than one year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting, strongly preferred.

Skills

Knowledge of evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and patient preferences and cultural beliefs. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and designated care partners. Skills in patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, discharge planning, and health information documentation.

Pay

The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
