Registered Nurse (Part Time, Days) Cherry HIll, NJ

With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the professional nurse uses the nursing process in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diverse patients served by Jefferson Health. Develops nursing plans of care with the patient and their designated care partner(s) to effectively meet individualized needs and priorities, ensuring plans are consistent with cultural beliefs and values.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Integrates Evidence-Based Practice, clinical expertise, and patient/family preferences and cultural beliefs to deliver optimal healthcare.
• Partners with patients and their family/designated care partner(s) to identify learning needs and provides education in accessible, understandable, and affirming ways.
• Minimizes risk of harm to patients and others by adhering to established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance standards.
• Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
• Monitors outcomes of care processes using data and implements improvement methods to continuously enhance quality and safety.
• Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.

Requirements

• Specialized Diploma: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• Patient- and Family-Centered Practice: Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with patients, families, and designated care partners in care planning.
• Cultural Awareness: Ability to connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and convey respect.
• Effective Communication: Understanding of communication concepts, tools, and techniques to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas and needs accurately. Engages patients and families in their health and care using partnership language.
• Patient Assessment and Care: Knowledge of and ability to assess ailments and injuries and implement a treatment plan.
• Patient and Designated Care Partner Education: Knowledge of child and adult education techniques to elicit learning priorities and educate on conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
• Medication Administration and Prescription: Knowledge of medications and ability to administer them and prescribe drugs for continuing treatment.
• Discharge Planning: Ability to partner with patients and families to develop a discharge plan and arrange follow-up care.
• Assessment and Diagnosis: Knowledge of tools and techniques for patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgment.
• Health Information Documentation: Ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, and test results accurately in written or electronic form.
• BLS Certification: Basic Life Support (AHA - American Heart Association).
• Active RN license required in the state of practice (PA or NJ).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire (strongly preferred).
• 1 year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting (strongly preferred).

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers requiring 29 lbs. push force, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight).
• Frequent to continuous standing/walking (patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
• Perform role-specific activities including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $39.54 to $56.34. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
