Registered Nurse Med Surg (Part Time, Days) Stratford NJ

Responsibilities
- Interacts with co-workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Integrates Evidence-Based Practice, clinical expertise, patients, and their family/designated care partner(s) preferences and cultural beliefs for delivery of optimal healthcare.
- Partners with patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in identifying learning needs and priorities, providing education in useful, understandable, and affirming ways.
- Minimizes risk of harm to patients and others by following established nursing practices and protocols and individual performance.
- Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
- Uses data to monitor outcomes of care processes and employs improvement methods to design and test changes for continuous quality and safety in patient care.
- Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.

Requirements
- Specialized Diploma: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Patient- and Family-Centered Practice: Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family, and/or designated care partner in care and care planning.
- Cultural Awareness: Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively.
- Effective Communication: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs accurately. Uses partnership language with patients and families, engaging them in health and healthcare. Appropriately and respectfully delegates to other team members.
- Patient Assessment and Care: Knowledge of and ability to assess ailments and injuries of patients and implement a treatment plan.
- Patient and Designated Care Partner Education: Knowledge of child and adult education techniques and the ability to elicit learning priorities, educate on conditions, treatments, medications, and next steps in recovery.
- Medication Administration and Prescription: Knowledge of medications used to treat patients and ability to administer and prescribe drugs for continuing treatment.
- Discharge Planning: Knowledge of post-discharge needs and ability to partner with the patient and family/designated care partner(s) to develop a discharge plan and arrange follow-up care.
- Assessment and Diagnosis: Knowledge of tools and techniques for patient assessment and nursing diagnosis or clinical judgment; ability to explore and analyze symptoms and generate resolutions.
- Health Information Documentation: Knowledge of health information relevance and appropriate documentation methods; ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and results.
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA - American Heart Association).
- Active RN license required in the state of practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire strongly preferred.
- 1 year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
Additional Qualifications
- Physical ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., push/pull patients on bed or stretcher requiring 29 lbs. push force, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient’s weight).
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking (e.g., patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
- May be required to perform activities specific to the role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
Pay
Salary Range: $39.54 to $56.34 hourly. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
