Main Purpose of Job:

The main purpose of this position is to plan and coordinate the provision of nursing care for all shifts within a Residential Intermediate Care Facility for the treatment of Substance Use Disorders. This position will directly supervise all Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), including Registered Nurse Supervisors and Registered Nurse Charges, and indirectly supervise subordinate staff positions that are part of the nursing care team. This position will supervise and coordinate nursing care services provided at a 40+ bed facility. This position will provide supervision and direct the work of a diversified team and monitor the utilization of best practice treatment modalities to ensure quality standards of care are provided. This position will ensure compliance with AF Whitsitt Center policies and procedures, COMAR regulations and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation standards and provide program oversight for grant-funded services as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in the Medical option and one year in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising or managing nursing staff in an inpatient, residential, behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment setting.

  • Experience providing care to individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions and withdrawal management needs.

  • Experience and/or working knowledge of CARF accreditation standards, Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) licensure requirements, COMAR regulations and quality assurance processes.
