About the role

The role involves creating, planning, implementing, and coordinating orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation using the NPD Practice model.

Responsibilities

  • Engages learners in planned educational activities through use of effective facilitation skills
  • Develops, incorporates, and implements evidence-based plans in collaboration with content experts, representatives of target audiences, and other stakeholders
  • Assists with students and practicing nurses to identify their learning needs, strengths, and opportunities and develops learning activities to grow skill sets based on learning needs
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of educational activities
  • Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry process, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise
  • Works with others to identify problems and solutions and collaboratively create and assists in the implementation of the changes planned

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of word processing, data management, email, and presentation applications
  • Effective professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the American Nurses Association (ANA)/Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) scope and standards for Nursing Professional Development
  • Self-directed, creative, and demonstrates initiative to fulfill the seven roles of the NPD practitioner: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for the NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Nursing
  • Master's of Nursing (preferred)

Skills

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, OSHA) for professional specialty served (preferred)
