Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
  • Five years experience working with postpartum and ante partum patients and their infants.
  • Two years demonstrated leadership experience coordinating education programs and work of others.
  • Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiner (IBLCE).

Skills Required

  • Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvement, provide information and available resources, respond to patient and physician issues and concerns and ensure consistent quality patient care.
  • Communication and/or interpersonal skills to work productively with all levels of hospital personnel and to oversee the activities of a small group of personnel.
  • Some discretion and conflict resolution skills are necessary.
  • Courtesy and listening skills are required to communicate effectively with employees, patients and their families.
  • Ability to read and comprehend procedural and technical literature, as necessary.
  • Teaching abilities to conduct educational programs for staff, patients, families and community.
  • Leadership skills to direct others toward objectives that contribute to the success of the department.
  • Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue.
