Responsibilities

  • Communicate with physicians about changes in patients’ clinical condition
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
  • Act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure
  • Perform general nursing duties in all Maternal Child Health departments with adequate supervision
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Act as the patient’s advocate, as circumstances require

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent
  • Current license to practice as a registered Nurse in the State of Nevada
  • Current BLS required
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. (within 90 days of hire)
  • AWHONN Fetal monitoring validation within 6 months of hire
  • ACLS must be obtained within 3 months of Hire/Transfer
  • Pass National League of Nursing medication test with score of 80%
  • Minimum 1-year recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience, in a comparable or more active unit or completion of Labor and Delivery course at Southern Hills Hospital, including surgical suite
  • Proficient in Labor and Delivery nursing procedures and skills, including fetal monitoring interpretation
  • Proficiency in newborn, maternal/child, and labor and delivery, childbearing women (11-55 years), nursing procedures and skills, including assessment
