Responsibilities

• Delivers safe patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Affirms patient-centered care and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Ensures compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and laws.
• Serves as a resource for other staff and clinicians.
• Coordinates patient care with LPNs and support personnel.
• Directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel.
• Advocates for patients to ensure their autonomy, dignity, and rights are preserved.
• Provides care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner.
• Performs charge nurse or leadership roles as needed.
• Writes progress notes that demonstrate an understanding of the patient's status and progress toward achieving goals.
• Participates in quality improvement processes and nursing research.

Requirements

• 2 year / Associate degree in Nursing, required or Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or 4 year / Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferred.
• Minimum 3 years Registered Nurse Experience, 1 year must have been in a relevant practice area, required.
• Previous experience as a charge nurse/leadership role, preferred.
• Current NYS license as a Registered Nurse, required.
• BLS certification will be required within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
• Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy by providing documented evidence of completion to supervisor.
• Provides to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation.
• Participates in level appropriate number of hours of educational activity, according to pathway, related to job function annually and provides documented evidence of attendance or activity to supervisor.
• Demonstrates clinical problem-solving ability through written exemplar, patient/family feedback, co-worker report or direct managerial observation.
• Participates in nursing research.
• Identifies clinical problems requiring investigation as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
• Partners with senior nurses to use research findings in clinical practice as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
• Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
• Frequent fit testing.
• Constant typing, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking.

Hazards

• Occasional radiation/radiant energy.
• Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.

Working Conditions

• Occasional noise, vibration, wet and/or humid.

Pay

• Pay Range Minimum USD $43.48/Hr.
• Pay Range Maximum USD $64.23/Hr.
