Responsibilities
- Delivers safe patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Affirms the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient's needs.
- Contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Ensures care provided is consistent with applicable standards, regulations, statutes, and state, federal law.
- Serves as a resource for other staff and clinicians as required.
- Provides nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings consistent with educational preparation.
- Captures, analyzes, and records relevant patient health data accurately.
- Analyzes assessment data to identify patient problems.
- Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient.
- Develops a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Implements and records interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem.
- Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attainment of identified goals.
- Directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel 100% of the time according to department guidelines.
- Demonstrates consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care.
- Functions in charge nurse, group leader, or preceptor capacity when assigned.
- Writes a progress note that demonstrates an understanding of the patient’s status and progress toward achievement of goals.
- Advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient’s autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity.
- Ensures patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures.
- Acts on behalf of patients in an ethical manner.
- Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses.
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
- Provides proof of current licensure validation to supervisor.
- Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy.
- Provides to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation.
- Participates in level appropriate number of hours of educational activity, related to job function annually.
- Participates in quality improvement processes for the department and institution.
- Participates in nursing research.
- Identifies clinical problems requiring investigation.
- Partners with senior nurses to use research findings in clinical practice.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
- 2 year / Associate degree in Nursing, required or Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or 4 year / Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferred.
- Minimum 3 years Registered Nurse Experience, 1 year must have been in a relevant practice area, required.
- Must be able to perform as a preceptor, required.
- Previous experience as a charge nurse/leadership role, preferred.
- Current NYS license as a Registered Nurse, required.
- BLS certification will be required within 6 months.
- Other certifications may be needed based on department requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: 2 year / Associate degree in Nursing, required or Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or 4 year / Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years Registered Nurse Experience, 1 year must have been in a relevant practice area, required.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current NYS license as a Registered Nurse, required.

Physical Requirements
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching.
- Frequent fit testing.
- Constant typing, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking.
- Hazards: Occasional radiation/radiant energy, Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.
- Working Conditions: Occasional noise, vibration, wet and/or humid, Frequent odors.
- Travel: Occasional travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis.

Total Rewards
We offer a sign-on bonus for this position! The bonus amounts are based on the position type and are listed below:
- RN (excluding management): $20,000 for full time.
- LPN: $10,000 for full time.
