Registered Nurse II - Temporary

Our mission at the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH) is to improve the health and well-being of Vermont's most vulnerable populations. We have immediate openings for experienced Registered Nurses. Nurses function as fully integrated members of a multidisciplinary team while providing excellent psychiatric nursing care. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
About the Role
Duties are primarily performed in a clinical setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and a potentially physically and verbally violent patient population may occur. The role may involve stressful situations and require working evenings, nights, weekends, and extended shifts as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent psychiatric nursing care as a fully integrated member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain minimum staffing levels and respond to unannounced regulatory inspections.
- Work overtime when required as an essential function of the role.
Requirements
- Possession of (or eligibility for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont or eligibility to practice in Vermont via a multi-state license.
- Two (2) or more years of professional nursing experience in a nursing specialty.
- Must maintain Vermont RN licensure or multi-state license eligibility as a condition of employment.
- Overtime work is required and considered a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Experience in specialty areas such as psychiatric, geriatric, or pediatric/adolescent nursing.
